It seems a nice landmark to finish on. I've decided once and for all to end this blog. It will still be available to read but it will not be updated again. The reason for this is because I've sensed the end of a chapter (to be poetical) and it would be dry to try to start a new chapter with an old cover so to speak. I have another fresh, current, spell-checked project which you can read instead however, if you'd like to follow where life and faith is taking me. I'm most definitely keeping up to date with that one. It is private for the meantime but I honestly would like whoever has any interest whatsoever, whether I know you personally or not, to leave a comment containing your email address if you have a Google account. This will not be published since I moderate all comments and choose whether or not to publish them. I need your email only for the purpose of sending you an invite to read my private blog. From then on you will need to sign in before being able to view my posts.

A tentative hello

Hello again folk!

Yes, I can't make up my mind whether to write this blog or not. There is so much which is out of date and wow, my goodness does it need editing! I shall save myself that huge task until I have a decent amount of time to gather everything up and start a new, fresh, spell-checked blog with a grown voice and a jar of M&Ms to share with my blogger friends.

Sorry this is just a note. I think I will actually make a few decent entries again...it would be good to get back into sharing my thoughts here. Most of my readers may have forgotten about me but hey, it'll still be fun!

Goodnight all.

Envy

For Reference: Proverbs 23:17-18.

I read this in an email subscription I receive everyday. Today's one particularly stood out to me! Here it is:

When we see the wicked prosper we are apt to envy them. When we hear the noise of their mirth and our own spirit is heavy, we half think that they have the best of it. This is foolish and sinful. If we knew them better, and specially if we remembered their end, we should pity them.

(Here's the part...)

The cure for envy lies in living under a constant sense of the divine presence, worshiping God and communing with Him all the day long, however long the day may seem. True religion lifts the soul into a higher region, where the judgment becomes more clear and the desires are more elevated. The more of heaven there is in our lives, the less of earth we shall covet. The fear of God casts out envy of men.

The deathblow of envy is a calm consideration of the future. The wealth and glory of the ungodly are a vain show. This pompous appearance flashes out for an hour and then is extinguished. What is the prosperous sinner the better for his prosperity when judgment overtakes him? As for the godly man, his end is peace and blessedness, and none can rob him of his joy; therefore, let him forgo envy and be filled with sweet content.

Thoughts anyone?

Camp

Camp was absolutely fantastic! I was wiped out all Friday evening and I'm now sick so I've been dozing throughout the last few days. I've gotten lots out of the talks and activities; lots of info to get me enthusiastic to live for God with everything I've got! Now I have so many new friends and insights I wouldn't have received if our speaker, Mike, hadn't portrayed them as fully as he did. I love the whole experience!

Day One: Monday

My folks dropped me off at the bus depot at about 12:30 and the drive to the ferry from there took less than an hour. We spent ages at the wharf, loading the ferry etc., and I found my team (about 16-18 people) and met up briefly with my friend from the same camp in 2008. The whole camp was divided into four teams altogether. The overall theme was light and the team names met this theme: Fireflies, Comets, Bloc team (whaat?) and I was with the Megawhatts. Our alternate names were red, orange, blue and yellow.

After the trip over to the island, we spent a long while unloading the ferry, being drummed into the swing of things; then we went off, settled into our rooms and met our roommates properly.

In the evening we had dinner and then a Bible study meeting and worship time led by Mike. After that, we broke off into our teams in the one large dining hall to make our separate team flags and to invent our chants. Ours was... "North, south, east and west (echo); Megawhatts are the best (echo); whether we run, climb or swim (echo); Megawhatts are gonna win!"

Then it was supper and bed.

Day Two: Tuesday

Woke up at 6:30 and had a shower. After breakfast was another meeting and our teams got together into groups immediately afterward to discuss the sermon etc. We had some free time after lunch until my team went off on the confidence course. The first part of this was just a walk through the bush (up and down, up and down; and it was muddy too but my dancer calves held out) but then we got into the real thing. The first obstacle was this weird oblique wooden structure which we had to climb over. I freaked at the top (yep, I'm terrified of pretty much any height taller than two meters lol) and took a while to climb over but it would be one of a small series of things I didn't give up on over the camp.

The second obstacle was a high fence of tires which we had to climb over. Again I freaked at the top but made it down the other side much quicker than the first time. Then came the tightrope thingamabob which I did fine on. Then the monkey bars (guys did chin ups on each bar) and I went across those as easily as anything. Then there was this pit thing where we had to swing on a rope from the edge, and land on a wooden stile (is that the word?) and swing back. I did it alright but didn't catch the stile very well (most people didn't either) and I almost fell backwards which hurt my back considerably but I steadied myself and made it back over fine. Another obstacle was a tightrope thing which was pretty easy. The rest of the confidence course was much the same...

After lunch my team went yachting at about 2pm. My friend and I almost capsized our tiny yacht several times! We got shivering cold because the weather wasn't too good but it was awesome fun. We then had some more free time; dinner; and another meeting and discussion time.

In the evening we could each chose what activity to do so I went night kayaking which was so beautiful! The lights around the beach and the feel of fish near your paddle...pretty cool.

Suppertime, then bed.

Day Three: Wednesday

Breakfast, meeting and free time. Then my team went rock climbing which I survived! The wall was pretty high but I gave it my best shot and my team cheered me on like nothing on earth. I reached the top! YEEEEESSSS!!!!

At the same time as the rock climbing, we made a rope stretcher and carried our "injured" candidate (who really did have a bust knee) down the muddy, slippery hill which has a teeny weeny trail and then had a team meeting to start planning our skit to perform at the concert.

We had lunch; then my team went kayaking, and swimming after that. We had dinner; another meeting and discussion time; and then I went off to night activity I'd chosen which was abseiling.

Suppertime, then bed.

Day Four: Thursday

When everyone had finished breakfast we had some light activities (momentarily forgotten what these were) then lunch, then more prep for the concert. Dinner and another meeting and discussion time followed. Finally we had the concert which was hilarious, moving, fumbled and pretty fun. Then supper and we watched "Gifted Hands" before getting to bed at 2:40am. Sweet! :)

Day Five: Friday

We had photos and the prize givings (my team had built up the most points so we won! Got marsh mellow Easter eggs as a prize) and we cleaned up our rooms etc. Lunch was a sausage sizzle outside. Amongst packing, everyone sped around getting everyone's contact details and messages written into each of their booklets. Mine got full up completely! Altogether I think I made about 25 new friends - no joke. :)

We loaded up the ferry and said all our goodbyes when we reached the wharf; twas the saddest and happiest time of camp. Hate goodbyes...

After the bus trip I said a few more goodbyes and gave a few more hugs. My dad met me at the bus stop and then that was the end of camp...

Easter

Easter is here and so are many things I have to do. Today I have my silver bar medal test for Scottish country dancing, and I'll be meeting up with old Summer School friends. Tomorrow it's my mum's birthday so we're having relatives over, and then I'm off to a semi-formal dance where I'll again see said dancer friends. On Sunday I'll be packing and then on Monday I'm off to Christian Easter youth camp on an Island up North. There I'll be seeing one old friend in particular which will be super fantastic. I'll be back on Friday and over the weekend I'll update properly. Have a great Easter everyone! :)
